BPMN Training Part 7: Inclusive Gateway
Chapter Overview
In this training chapter you get familiar with the BPMN inclusive gateway.

An inclusive gateway is used, where more conditions can be true. Like for an exclusive gateway flows are processed according to the flow condition.
In contrary to an exclusive gateway, several conditional flows of an inclusive gateway can be executed. The joining inclusive gateway is in a wait state until all enabled conditional flows are completed.
Sample BPMN Process Model
Tutorial Model: Automation/Business Process/Tutorial/BPM/InclusiveGateway/UserRegistration
Process Explanation:
-
The process starts with a user task "Request Registration".
-
After the gateway "Is canceled?" the default flow "NO" triggers an inclusive gateway "Is approved" which evaluates three flow conditions for further processing
-
"age >=18?" followed by a script task "Approve Legal Age"
-
"has gmail account?" followed by a script task "Approve Gmail Account"
-
a default flow followed by a script task "Deny Registration", if none of the conditions above is true
-
The flows of the inclusive gateway are joined with the outgoing flows of the three script tasks followed by the user task "View Registration Result"
-
The process will then be repeated, if the gateway "Has Retry?" is true, otherwise the process is terminated.
