Working with Submodels - xAPPnow Low Code Platform

All model types of the xAPPnow Low Code Platform may have submodels. On the one hand submodels provides you to modularize complex components, on the other hand submodels are required for the implementation of a process application.

Submodels of the first category are for example a subprocesses of a process model or just another value chain model to detail a core process of the parent value chain model.

Submodels of the second category are for example a client service model, which could represent a submodel of a user task of a process model or a user interface model, which itself is a submodel of a user element of that client service model.

It is required that submodels are of the correct model type (see Submodel Configuration) for the entire element of a parent model (e.g. a client service model can only be connected to BPMN user task).

After a submodel is connected to an element the element presents a "PLUS" icon at the lower bottom of the element   .  You can navigate to the associated submodel by double click at the element.
You can navigate back to the parent model by clicking the toolbar button Back to Parent Model   (see toolbar).
To connect any model type to a parent model the Hyperlink element element has to be used, which is available for all model types. In such a way you can provide a seamless model navigation within your project.

The following steps explain how to link submodels to an element.
